This course introduces students to the basic concepts, principles, and practices of research in tourism and management. It covers research meaning, objectives, types, research design, thesis structure, problem identification, objectives, hypothesis formulation and testing. The course also explains major research methods, survey techniques, sampling, data collection tools, and important tourism data sources such as UNWTO, WTTC, PATA, WEF and Ministry of Tourism.

It further provides basic knowledge of statistical analysis, probability, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, factor analysis, interpretation, and report writing. Overall, the course helps students develop the knowledge and skills required to conduct independent research projects and prepare academic research reports in tourism.
